An infographic is a collection of information that combines pictures and charts with small amounts of text to give an overview of a topic.

Infographics are great for making complex information easy to understand. They can be helpful when your goal is to:

  • Provide a quick overview of a topic
  • Explain a complex process
  • Display research findings or data
  • Summarize findings
  • Compare and contrast
  • Raise awareness

Infographic Design

To create easily understood infographics:

  • Use lines, borders, and shapes to group related information.
  • Use one contrasting color to draw attention to key information.
  • Create a text hierarchy with three different font styles.
  • Use images, icons, and illustrations to make key takeaways memorable.

How to Create Infographics

  • Use the shapes, lines, tables, charts, and color options in:
    • Google Draw
    • PowerPoint 
    • Google Slides
  • Free clipart
  • Free online program
